About Me
I work in private practice providing psychotherapy and counselling to individuals, couples, groups and families. I am also a qualified teacher.
In my role as counsellor and therapist I have supported individuals and groups to deal with a range of issues including relationship difficulties, depression, loss and bereavement, grief, special educational needs and disability, self-harm, sexual abuse, low confidence and self-esteem, and life direction.
I have worked in a supportive capacity for many years helping adults and children in a variety of settings. My experience includes counselling and psychotherapy with adults and children in schools, and with children and young adults in residential care. As a qualified teacher I have taught in mainstream education and in specialist schools for children with additional needs, including complex learning difficulties.
Whilst teaching in a specialist school for children with Autistic Spectrum Conditions, I worked closely with families and as part of a multidisciplinary team. In addition to my responsibilities as a classroom teacher, I provided support and guidance in relation to communication, specific therapies, provision in the home and difficulties related to feeding and diet.
Other work has included introducing strategies to help reduce anxiety experienced by children with Autism, as well as facilitating behaviour modification in children with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder. I have also delivered Autism training to groups.
In my work as a therapist and counsellor I adhere to the *British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy code of ethics and receive supervision in accordance with *bacp guidelines. I am a registered member of the bacp (MBACP.)
