Psychotherapy and Counselling
Psychotherapy and counselling can help you to manage and overcome a range of challenges related to different aspects of your life. Whether it is concerns regarding life direction, relationships or general wellbeing, talking your thoughts and feelings through with someone who is experienced in working therapeutically can help. I offer a safe, respectful and confidential space where we can think together in a way which aims to alleviate troubling thoughts, behaviours and emotions. Together we can work towards helping you to develop greater self-awareness and help to improve your life.
The main model of therapy underpinning my work is Transactional Analysis Psychotherapy which I incorporate using a relational approach. I also use aspects of Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy which has its roots in psychoanalysis. Transactional Analysis Psychotherapy can help to explain the connections we have to our past and how these influence how we are in the here and now and our outlook for the future. During therapy, through analysing patterns of behaviour and communications, it can provide opportunities for personal growth and change.
Therapy can feel challenging. The process of thinking about ourselves and how we relate to others and the world around us, and what has contributed to how we think and behave can stir up lots of thoughts and feelings which may at times feel difficult to bear. Therapy can help you to understand and manage those feelings. It can also feel very rewarding and lead to greater self-awareness and a feeling of moving forward in life with a more positive sense of self.
